Universal Radio ("we", "our", or "the App"), developed by Sandeep Sagar, is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we do and do not collect, how your data is handled, and your rights when using the Universal Radio application on Android, web, or other platforms.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
Universal Radio is built with a privacy-first, client-side architecture:
- No Account Required: You do not need to register an account, sign in, or provide your name, phone number, physical address, or password to use Universal Radio.
- No Personal Identity Tracking: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade any personal data to third parties or data brokers.
- No Contact or Media Access: We do not access your contacts, camera, photos, or personal files.
2. Local Storage and On-Device Data
To provide a seamless radio listening experience, Universal Radio stores certain non-sensitive data strictly on your local device using standard browser/client-side storage (such as LocalStorage and IndexedDB):
- Favorites & Custom Channels: Stations you bookmark as favorites or custom radio stream URLs you add are saved on your device so they persist across sessions.
- Last Played Station: The app remembers your last tuned channel so it can resume playback on startup according to your preferences.
- Audio Recordings & Vault: If you use the in-app audio recording feature to record a stream broadcast, the audio recording is stored exclusively in your device's local offline vault. Recorded audio files are never uploaded to any external cloud or server.
- Equalizer & Audio Preferences: 5-band EQ settings, volume levels, and sleep timer choices are saved locally on your device.
3. Network Permissions & Third-Party Streams
Universal Radio requires access to the internet (android.permission.INTERNET and android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) solely to stream live digital audio broadcasts:
- Live Audio Streaming: When you select a radio station, your device establishes a direct internet connection to the public streaming server (Shoutcast, Icecast, HLS, or direct HTTP/HTTPS stream) operated by that broadcaster.
- Broadcaster Server Logs: Connecting to an online broadcast transmits standard internet request metadata (such as your IP address and standard user-agent string) to the broadcast server, subject to the privacy policy of the respective station owner.
4. Advertising & Monetization
If Google AdMob or banner advertisements are displayed in the application:
- Google AdMob may utilize anonymous mobile advertising identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID) to display relevant or personalized advertisements in accordance with Google's Advertising Policies and user consent guidelines.
- Users can reset or limit their mobile advertising ID at any time in their Android device settings under Settings > Google > Ads.
5. Children's Privacy
Universal Radio is a general audience entertainment application and does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take immediate corrective measures.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Because all user preferences, favorites, and recorded audio files reside strictly on your local device:
- You can delete individual recordings, clear station histories, or reset preferences at any time directly inside the app.
- You can instantly delete all local data by going to your device's Settings > Apps > Universal Radio > Storage > Clear Data / Clear Cache, or by uninstalling the application.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect functional updates or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted directly to this URL with an updated revision date.
